Cultivating Resilience, Nourishing Communities
At Village Economic Empowerment (VEE), we recognize that food security is fundamental to building strong, thriving communities. That’s why we are working hand-in-hand with smallholder farmers to transform agricultural practices, increase productivity, and create sustainable food systems.
We have invested in a state-of-the-art potato processing hub and cold storage facilities, allowing farmers to:
Extend the shelf life of their produce
Add value through processing and packaging
Access wider and more profitable markets
Additionally, access to tractors and a delivery truck has significantly eased farm-to-market logistics, reduced post-harvest losses, and increased farmers’ incomes.
Through the development of a farmer’s digital app, VEE is connecting farmers with:
Timely agricultural advice and weather updates
Market prices and buyer networks
Farm management tools and training resources
This technology empowers farmers to make data-driven decisions, improving both yields and profits.
In a transformative cultural shift, even the traditionally pastoralist Maasai community has embraced farming. With VEE’s support:
Community members are establishing seedbeds for food crops
Household nutrition has improved
Dependency on external food aid is decreasing
By blending traditional knowledge with modern farming techniques, communities are becoming more resilient to climate change and economic shocks.
