Educating Generations - eliminating illiteracy among marginalized communities

The monkey-rope is found in all whalers; but it was only in the Pequod that the monkey and his holder were ever tied together. This improvement upon the original usage was introduced by no less a man than Stubb, in order to afford the imperilled harpooneer the strongest possible guarantee for the faithfulness and vigilance of his monkey-rope holder. In the tumultuous business.

It indeed takes a village to raise a child. In today's world we cannot afford to overlook the need for education. A learning opportunity given to a child is like a doorway to the next level. Whatever lays the foundation is early childhood education; a guiding pillar to their transition. One of our objectives is finding solutions to illiteracy and advocating for early childhood education within marginalized communities. Osiligi Pre-school is one of our initiatives aiming at ensuring that children in Osiligi community access education at the appropriate age. 85 young children redefining their destinies and life paths in general. The initiatives can always be reciprocated in our other program areas; Kinari & Karangatha. We believe that every child deserves a chance/shot at life; to explore. Our early childhood education initiatives are based on several objectives: Holistic development of a child in cognitive, mental, emotional and physical aspects. A pathway to enhance a child's comprehension and learning ability. Enhance their social development through interaction and socialization. Redefine and shape their abilities in order to shape their understanding on why they exist in the society. (Impact children's lives throughout adulthood) Our approach through our initiatives aim at overall holistic development of a child. Noting a child’s strength helps in cultivating and improving their skills in critical thinking, problem solving and intelligence. A timid child needs to be helped in that a facilitator may device ways to build their confidence and curiosity in getting them to express themselves. It can be in terms of motivation or reward for a task in his/ her specific area of strength.  I would call it a slight push towards their holistic development. We are looking to explore and redefine the learning in our Osiligi Pre-school and other learning centres in the future. In the wake of innovation and technology: enhancing the capacity of our teachers to effectively deal with the children, practical education to broaden and enhance learners’ ability to explore and incorporating technology in the classroom are some of our immediate initiatives to foster learning and development of a child.
